Make a difference by using your gifts on the Dream Team!
The Dream Team is a group of incredible people who have discovered their gifts and talents and are actively serving on one of many ministry or mission teams.
Ministry teams serve within the church in a variety of areas.
- Worship and Production teams offer musical performance as well as behind the scenes roles.
- United Kids teams provide the helping hands needed on Sunday mornings and at special events for children.
- United Students teams invest in the lives of teenagers through Wednesday night large and small groups, or at events and retreats.
- Administrative teams assist with office tasks or organize the Growth Track process.
- Facility teams assist with maintenance tasks related to the church building.
- Financial teams handle the accounting and contribution processing roles for the church.
- Host teams provide hospitality, a warm greeting and a friendly face for United Church activities.
- Prayer teams intercede for the church, our community, and those who are hurting.
Mission teams serve outside the church facility, whether locally, regionally, or internationally.
- Local team activities include prison ministry (Jailhouse Rock), nursing home ministry (Geriatric Jam), preparation and delivery of firewood (Woodchuckers), building days with Habitat for Humanity, connecting families with toys through The Christmas Store, and providing food to hungry schoolchildren with Backpack Buddies.
- Regionally, the Disaster Immediate Response Team (DIRT) sends teams of volunteers to assist those affected by natural disasters or other tragedies. Previous DIRT participants have gone to NYC and Washington, DC after 9/11, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, West Virginia after flooding, and throughout NC in response to hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding.
- Internationally, United Church supports missionaries (Gary & Ashley Helms) who are serving in London, England.
The way to join the Dream Team is to participate in Growth Track. Growth Track is a process intended to equip you to live life as a fully devoted follower of Christ, from learning the essentials of our faith to discovering and fulfilling your God-given purpose.
